In the role of Procedural Technician working at The Tosa Health Center. The Procedural Technician handles instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the procedure. Has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the providers. Has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the procedural and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. He/she will perform other related duties as needed to maintain department cost containment, efficiency, as well as quality performance. Other duties as assigned.

This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the preparation, maintenance and selection of equipment, instruments, materials, and supplies required for procedures to facilitate timely procedure start times, efficient and timely procedure progress and complete case set-ups.
  • Responsible for rooming patients, taking vitals, and performing necessary documentation in EMR.
  • Responsible for prepping patient under sterile technique, cleaning and setting up procedural room for sterile procedure.
  • Assist with pre- authorizations and the scheduling of patients for procedures as needed
  • Anticipates needs and assists the providers in the care of the patient to facilitate a positive procedural experience for patients.
  • Handles medications as dispensed to the sterile field.
  • Assists the providers to promote efficient and timely completion of the procedure. Knowledgeable of all procedures performed within the FORME Vein Clinic.
  • Identifies, selects, and performs correct decontamination, cleaning, and sterilization method for equipment and instrumentation for all procedural performed at the FORME Vein Clinic.
  • Demonstrates knowledge, prepares and maintains sterile field/technique throughout the procedure. a. Demonstrates an understanding of all procedures performed in the FORME Vein Clinic and knowledge of anatomy and instrumentation. b. Demonstrates knowledge of individual procedure/surgeon requirements for instrumentation, and equipment etc. c. Anticipates providers needs to expedite procedure. d. Gowns, gloves, drapes, and passes instruments. e. Cleans wounds and applies dressings, bandages and stockings.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of all surgical equipment and instrumentation to facilitate durability and availability for future procedures.
  • Maintains integrity of all sterile goods by close observation of sterile conscience, monitoring of packaging and handling.
  • Collaborates with all clinic staff for orientation and training of coworkers, when appropriate.
  • Responsible for working with other clinic staff to track, order and stock supply inventory.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum Required Education: High School Diploma
  • Preferred Experience: 3 years
  • Certification: Completion of an accredited surgical technologist or medical assistant program preferred.
