Description:

The Network Engineer SME serves as focal point to create and deliver network engineering design and implementation plan for enterprise level networks. The Network Engineer is expected to take the lead conducting research and analysis, and to provide recommendations security technology to protect hosting networks; then deliver engineering design and execution plans to implement chosen cloud technology. The Network Engineer SME will support the transition and migration of the data and applications from legacy networks.

Requirements:

  • Active US Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology (IT) or a related discipline
  • 10 - 12 years Progressive Experience
  • Network + certification

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Support networking responsibilities to include routing, switching, load balancer, firewall, monitoring and management.
  • Participate in designing, configuring, implementing and troubleshooting with different networking vendors and protocols.
  • Support different firewall technologies (ie. Stateful, stateless) and work with different firewall vendors to include designing, configuring, implementing and troubleshooting these various technologies.
  • Support intent-based network i.e. Cisco Digital Network Architecture Center (DNAc)
  • Design, configure, provision and deploy into the cloud specifically at the network layer.
  • Develop and implement requirements and specifications documentation.

Required Working Knowledge:

  • CISCO Digital Network Architecture Center (DNAc)
  • Firewalls and VPN solutions
  • Cisco routers and switches of various models
  • Switches, Routers, Hubs, Servers, Cables, Racks, Firewalls, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, SNMP, STP, DNS

Communication Skills:

  • Strong oral, technical writing, and presentation skills
  • Ability to build productive relationships with team members, clients and other network/system stakeholders.
  • Ability to establish working relationships with others outside area of expertise.

Field Experience:

  • Experience in reading network and connectivity schematics and plans
  • Experience in reading network installation schematics and plans
  • Experience in network system startup, configuration, and calibration
  • Experience in testing and troubleshooting
  • Experience using basic electrical hand tools.
  • Experience using testing, calibration, or industry-specific tools and software (spectrum analyzer, cable tester, Alignment tool)

Abilities:

  • Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
  • Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.
