Summary of Position

We are seeking a Director of Strategic Sourcing and Procurement who will be responsible for defining and leading the sourcing and procurement strategy across NRECA. As a critical member of our Finance department, you will be joining a dynamic team that works to support and enable all the various departments of NRECA. This Finance leadership role assumes a dual nature, encompassing both strategic and operational execution, necessitating cross departmental collaboration across the organization. The Director's role includes the execution of NRECA's Strategic Sourcing & Procurement vision and mission, exemplifying our commitment to service excellence for our members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads, directs, and coaches the Strategic Sourcing and Procurement Team.
  • Leads the development of a company-wide procurement strategy for critical products and services that yields measurable year-over-year improvement.
  • Partners with business unit leaders in developing category goals in alignment with procurement strategy and executes category sourcing strategies designed to improve cost, quality, and service performance.
  • Conducts ongoing business reviews to ensure suppliers are performing to contracted obligations and service levels and meeting stakeholder expectations.
  • Develops and implements industry leading practices, operating standards, controls, policies, procedures, and performance metrics to manage procurement activities effectively and efficiently across NRECA.
  • Leads and directs NRECA's National Discounts Program.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management (strongly preferred), Business Management, Finance or similar degree is required.
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Ten plus years of experience in lifecycle supply chain management including strategic sourcing, category management, contracting, supplier management and procurement.
  • Strategic sourcing experience with expertise in influencing business strategy and vendor relations.
  • Five years of experience managing staff and leading teams in a sourcing, distribution, and supply chain environment required.
  • Institute of Supply Management certification is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills Required (as demonstrated by prior work experience)

  • Knowledge of commercial procurement methodologies, commercial contract law and familiarity with the UCC as demonstrated by prior work experience.
  • Knowledge of e-procurement processes and systems as well as familiarity with leading procurement technology tools and solutions.
  • Knowledge of sourcing and procurement principles and best practices and their implementation as demonstrated by prior working experience.
  • Ability to manage innovation and change process within an organization as demonstrated by prior work experience.
  • Ability to build and sustain a high-performing team with an appreciation and interest in building and sustaining strategic relationships with key internal decision makers, members, staff and the public as demonstrated by prior work experience.
