Job Description
I. JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description Summary:
The IRB Analyst I reports to the Associate Director and serves as a Institutional Review Board (IRB) resource person for IRB transactions. The IRB Analyst I conducts pre-reviews of transactions, makes determinations of type of research review, and assists with investigator guidance. Creates a helpful atmosphere for all GW Principal Investigators and other GW researchers.
* Conducts pre-IRB review of minimal risk research studies to ensure
completeness of all
required documentation in the IRB submission. Facilitates revisions to the
submissions and
ensures that revisions are complete prior to submission to IRB designees.
* Assists investigators and members of the research team in understanding
pre-approval requirements of the IRB and communicating additional
information as needed. Directs communications for the Office of Human
Research (OHR) to PIs regarding IRB submission
guidelines and other compliance issues.
* Manages study files through various stages of review and approval and
ensure the timeliness and accuracy of final documents.
* Performs special project assignments in connections with the GW's
Human Research Protections Program as well as other work- related
duties as assigned.
* Serve as subject matter expert in making determinations regarding
research involving human subjects and exempt determinations.
* Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties
does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the
position.
Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
