Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Single Aisle Propulsion New Product Introduction (NPI) Manager to join our Procurement department based in Hartford, Connecticut.

Job Summary:

Single Aisle Propulsion New Product Introduction (NPI) Manager is a member of the Procurement Propulsion Operations team based in the USA. The position reports functionally to the AAPP but operationally to the Lead Supply Chain and Quality Manager (LSCQM) in charge of the product affected by major modifications.

Propulsion Procurement Operations is in charge of the delivery of propulsion systems to Airbus FAL, worldwide, of propulsion suppliers compliance to EASA/Airbus supplier quality requirements and of de-risking supply chain capacity and capability to ramp up production. For Single Aisle, the team is split between France (POPS) and USA (AAPP).

This position is responsible for the project management of the industrialization of major design modifications with the objectives to de-risk embodiment schedule, quality of the new products and to coordinate parties in case the modification impacts other products. He/she ensures adherence to Airbus Requirements for Maturity Gate process.

Primary Responsibilities:

Stakeholder coordination: 40%

  • Acts as industrial liaison for Airbus Procurement Operations with engineering and Program teams. Represents Airbus Procurement operations internally at the Change Control Board (CCB). Supports supplier relationship, development, and performance. Establishes priorities and ensures timely execution of multiple concurrent projects.

  • Once a modification is fully validated to be launched in production, the job holder will monitor the point of embodiment and communicate internally on the upcoming changes to the operational teams/partners potentially impacted by the change. He/She then hands over the delivery performance tracking to the LSCQM in charge of the product who follows serial production delivery performance.

  • Generates and presents NPI presentations to status stakeholders on NPI progress including risks and ops. He/she develops supply chain plans and quality management measures for new products.

Project Management: 30%

  • Tracks the industrial steps of a set of major modifications affecting engines or nacelles of the Single Aisle. Ensures that planning and deliverables (FAI, PPAP, MRL status...) are executed/released by the supplier(s) in line with the program plan, identifies potential planning risks and requests recovery actions to the supplier(s) as required.

  • Summarizes industrial risks versus the program plan and reports to the program management on industrial readiness of the suppliers and associated plans. Presents the industrial readiness at program Maturity Gates.

Industrial Maturity of Modifications: 30%

  • Assesses the industrial maturity of the modifications at the different milestones of the projects through the APQP methodology by collecting data from the suppliers and/or by performing on-site reviews at the supplier. Ensures that Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) is reached as expected. He/she assesses NPI sourcing strategies to anticipate and mitigate incorporation risks at rate. He/she tracks the transitions from the down change and up change.

  • When a modification requires concurrent changes on other products, he/she ensures that the industrial plans of the various modifications are progressing concurrently and organizes the required industrial integration reviews. He/She supervises the Part Acceptance Review (PAR).

  • Summarizes industrial risks versus the program plan and reports to the program management on industrial readiness of the suppliers and associated plans. Presents the industrial readiness at program Maturity Gates.

Qualified Experience and Training:

Education:

  • University Degree in a technical or engineering field and 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience

Experience:

Preferred

  • Experienced in managing propulsion system requirements

  • Certified in project management, use of PM software and tools

  • Experience with Supply Chain management or Strategic sourcing, Process Improvement experience in manufacturing, technical aptitude in understand engineering documents and complex manufacturing processes

  • Experience in development and delivery of executive presentations with demonstrated capability in required digital tools

  • Experience in: coordinating a global complex organization; in-depth issue resolution and management; professional customer interaction and relationship management.

Licensure/Certifications:

Preferred

  • PMP

Travel Required:

  • 20% Domestic and International

Citizenship:

  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.
