About the Position

Dexis is seeking an experienced Gender Expert Consultant to provide monitoring and evaluation and learning (MEL) technical services for an upcoming short-term evaluation with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) West Africa Regional Mission. This is a short-term position expected to start in mid-February 2024 and concluding at the end of April 2024. This consultancy will require travel to Ghana and Benin and an estimated level of effort of 45 days.

Responsibilities

Gender Specialist with strong analytical skills with a good understanding of the women economic empowerment issues in West Africa. The candidate should be able to conduct interviews and focus group discussion, analyze the resulting data, and be familiar with qualitative and quantitative data collection methods.

  • Provide expertise on gender approaches and tools for program staff to support activity design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and learning (MEL).
  • Ensure that gender considerations are integrated into the design, review and/or development of program activities and research products.
  • Support program development officers and MEL team to identify activities and indicators that promote access, participation, and capacity of vulnerable groups in target communities.
  • Provide inputs and analysis for technical and analytical reports and deliverables.
Qualifications
  • At least 7 years experience in program evaluation of donor funded development programs; priority will be given to those who have evaluated programs of similar nature.
  • At least 10 years of work experience on gender mainstreaming and gender analysis.
  • Strong English and French language speaking and writing skills are required.
  • Experience with USAID evaluation projects in West Africa is essential.
