Description

The Communications Intern is a content creator who supports the work of the PPMW Communications team to build awareness of PPMW programs/services and to increase donor support. They work closely with the Communications Manager and Digital Communications Manager, and report to the Assistant Vice President of Communications.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the Communications Manager to develop stories for the PPMW website and with the Digital Communications Manager to develop social media content, particularly video and graphics. This content will highlight PPMW health services as well as education and public affairs programs, to generate (1) engagement with these services and programs, (2) awareness of PPMW's brand and impact, and (3) donor support.
  • Support communications for the Fight Forward capital campaign and PPMW-sponsored events, such as the annual PPMW Gala.
  • Stay up-to-date about relevant aspects of political and legislative issues as they pertain to reproductive rights, to ensure PPMW communications are timely, relevant, and accurate.
  • Help ensure all communications align PPWW and PPAMDV brand guidelines and values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Keep up with and amplify messaging provided by Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), fellow Planned Parenthood affiliates, and other partners.
  • Other communications responsibilities, as assigned.

Hourly Salary Based on Internship Salary Guidelines

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current college student who has completed at least one year of college prior to beginning their internship
  • Demonstrated social media content creation experience, particularly on Instagram and TikTok
  • Experience with design tools such as Canva or InDesign
  • Writing experience, preferably in a journalistic style (blog or short essay format)
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Superior written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Capable of working well as part of a team as well as independently
  • Great multitasker capable of simultaneously managing multiple projects with different deadlines
  • Experience in communicating with diverse audiences
  • Mission-driven motivation for PPMW values and culture
