STV Inc. is seeking a Senior Structural Design Engineer to join our collaborative team in the Owings Mills, MD office. Our strong portfolio of work will provide exciting and meaningful day-to-day challenges and allow you to provide solutions to real-world problems. You would be expected to perform a mix of duties ranging from design through Inspection activities.

This role emphasizes project design, production, and delivery, with the ability to develop both professionally and personally. STV offers opportunities to assist with project management tasks, including the preparation of proposals and contracts. The ideal candidate is self-motivated with a solid technical foundation allowing them to work independently or with a team as needed. What you will do:

  • Design & analysis of new and existing bridges, retaining walls, culverts, sign structures, and other structures related to the transportation industry
  • Bridge rehabilitation design
  • Bridge load ratings
  • Construction document production, including drawings, specifications and cost estimates
  • Performing bridge condition inspections, inspections of highway and rail transit structures, including leading bridge inspection teams
  • Preparing bridge inspection reports and other structural investigation reports
  • Perform constructability reviews
  • Review of shop drawings, and providing response to contractor's request for information
  • Providing quality check of engineer's computations, designs, or inspection reports
  • Prepare Quality Control Documentation
  • Assist in proposal development
  • Mentor the design team
  • You will have the opportunity to independently consider all options when making decisions critical to the project outcome
  • Develop Design-Build pursuit structural packages
  • Prepare construction engineering on Design-Build projects

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's Degree preferred)
  • Ability to use structural analysis and design software, such as Midas, LARS, MDX, V-Bent,CSi Bridge, Leap Bridge, STAAD, AASHTOWARE, PennDOT Programs
  • Proficiency in the use of MicroStation (preferred) and/or AutoCAD
  • 11+ years' experience in structural analysis and design of steel, concrete, pre-stressed concrete, and timber structures, related to transportation.
  • Maryland PE License required
  • Experience with Maryland MTA, MDTA, or SHA (preferred)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with MS Excel, Word and Mathcad
  • Flexible and adapts well to work sharing opportunities on projects in other states
  • Certified Bridge Safety Inspection (CBSI) Certification (preferred)
  • Current driver's license and safe driving record
  • Ability to perform field work - climb ladders and work at heights (preferred)
  • Experience with bridge management systems, such as InspectTech, or ASIR (preferred)

Compensation Range:

$116,960.00 - $155,946.00
