About the Role:

The ServiceNow Principal Architect is ultimately accountable for the overall design and development of the ServiceNow platform. Has ownership and oversight of the ServiceNow instances, and the core platform. Maximizes value by identifying additional business outcomes the platform allows.

The Principal Architect is responsible for the core configuration of the ServiceNow platform, safeguarding the architectural integrity of critical workflows such as IT Service Management (ITSM), HR Service Delivery (HRSD), Hardware Asset Management (HAM), and IT Operations Management (ITOM).

This role will work in a partnership with the ServiceNow product owner to manage the overall platform strategic roadmap and the rationalization of the demand for enterprise platform consumption. Together with the product owner, this role will ensure the platform team is in alignment with the business strategy, roadmap, and platform governance policies. The Principal Architect is also responsible to provide technical guidance and mentorship, and act as an escalation point to the ServiceNow development team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide product strategy guidance to support Morningstar's operational efficiency and employee experience goals. Help drive efficiency that sets Morningstar at the optimal level operational effectiveness to support our future growth.
  • Provide leadership and support of the platform strategy in relation with ServiceNow product releases and enhancements.
  • Oversee major product releases, technical impact analysis, architecture reviews, and overall execution of the releases while assessing risk.
  • Work closely with the development teams to determine changes required as a result of product releases, and plan update sets to address any collisions with new versions of the product.
  • Work closely with developers, the product owner, and program managers to drive technical standards, OOB architecture, and overall platform simplicity and scalability principles.
  • Set architecture standards to drive the implementation of integrations between ServiceNow Integration Hub API's and other Morningstar systems/applications.
  • Act as lead and expert in integration strategy and data sharing across other Morningstar applications.
  • Communicateproductprioritiesand buildconsensus.
  • Assume leadership responsibilities as anaccountable owner who is committedto the outcome regardless of the role ororganizationalboundaries.
  • Work withmultipleteamstoguideprojectsthroughdevelopmentand bring high-quality products to life.
  • Integrate usability studies, research, and market analysis into product requirements to enhance user satisfaction.
  • Communicate complex problems into easily understood requirements and provide solutions.
  • Administer and maintain the ServiceNow platform for optimal performance including but not limited to monitoring, upgrades, and access.
  • Ensures that documented development policies, procedures and best practices are followed.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience leading technical product ownership and/or system architecture with an emphasis in ServiceNow workflows.
  • At least 7 years of development experience within ServiceNow. Experience with ITSM, HRSD, ITOM, HAM, Discovery, CMDB, Integration Hub, and/or Event Management modules a big plus.
  • At least 3 years experience integrating ServiceNow with other systems via APIs and Integration Hub.
  • At least 3 years experience with Flow Designer.
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow functionality such as business rules, scripts, and Access Control List (ACL) rules.
  • Knowledge of business analysis processes and concepts.
  • Experience with Agile development processes and methodologies.
  • Experience working in a global setting.
  • Experience working with implementation partners and managed service providers.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Proven ability to successfully work in a matrix team environment that presents significant change and tight timeframes.

  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts and functionality as Morningstar expands our ServiceNow footprint.
