Do you want the opportunity to work with a team of talented business operations professionals?

If you're pursuing a degree in Business, Finance or a related field and want to gain experience in business operations we'd love to have you join our team!

We are seeking an intern to help us further develop our business operations reporting and databases. You will be joining a team of business financial and operations specialists who support our critical sponsor work and help manage the business operations of the Force Projection Sector (FPS). We are passionate about delivering valued-added business reporting solutions to our internal customers to enable effective decision making.

As a member of our team you will...

  • Assist in the design and development a variety of business operations reports, including monthly status reports, compliance reports and financial reports
  • Create a database of all IT and engineering technical software applications that FPS has invested in over the past several years. This requires researching purchasing information, including retrieval of purchase quotes, purchase orders and invoices. The resulting database will capture key software information, including: software license name, software manufacturer, period of performance, type of license and staff member point of contact.
  • Enable effective decision making by retrieving, aggregating and analyzing data from multiple sources and compiling it into a digestible and actionable format
  • Design and develop automated reporting solutions to enable stakeholders to make effective decisions
  • Assist in the development of documentation of key business operations practices and procedures

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Are pursing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Finance, Business Analytics or a related field
  • Have a passion for digging into business systems to find relevant data and compile into a digestible and easily understood format
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Have a track record of outstanding academic performance
  • Have experience using Excel, including creating formulas and pivot tables
  • Are a self-motivated, detail-oriented individual with good organizational skills
  • Have excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • To access APL's facilities and networks, US Citizenship or permanent resident status is required, subject to applicable laws.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Have advanced Excel skills, including building macros
  • Have experience in building dashboards using PowerBI
