U.S. Facilities, Inc., a consolidated facility management service, is seeking an Locksmith in the Washington, D.C. area. The position will be responsible for the operation, replacement, repair and maintenance of standard lock systems and standard hardware; maintains and uses a key making machine, software, key blanks, key cylinders and miscellaneous parts; Receives and responds to service calls; takes immediate action to resolve emergency situations or system breakdowns; oversees routine and preventive maintenance programs; Will interact with carpenters to provide complete services; May be assigned additional duties

Brief Summary of Duties:

  • Performs preventive maintenance, such as inspection, cleaning, servicing, lubricating and repair both locks and door hardware and access control hardware as stated in manuals.
  • Installs commercial lockable hardware such as doors, closers, exit devices, electric strikes and mortise locks to ensure safety of facilities. Troubleshoots electronic door operators and access control components and associated hardware.
  • Maintains facility-wide lock and key policy to ensure the safety and security of facility and employees.
  • Communicates with immediate supervisor and/or unit VP for interpretation and enforcement of lock and key policies.
  • Cuts and issues new keys and replace lost or broken keys as required by authorized Management personnel.
  • Modifies existing doors and hardware to adapt to new requirements of keying/access systems.
  • Maintains master key/access system using automated key management program.
  • Performs activities by using the automated work order system to track requests for maintenance and preventive maintenance.
  • Cleans, maintains, adjusts, calibrates and services equipment used in performance of duties. Maintains locksmith/access shop to include ordering of materials, tools, and maintain inventory records.
  • Monitors work done by outside contractors.
  • Performs a variety of tasks to recondition and repair the interior and exterior of buildings, and on facility equipment.
  • Obtains supplies and materials for assigned work.
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner, follow all safety procedures, and maintain a clean work area.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures and adhere to company standards.
  • Must be a team player committed to working in a quality environment.
  • Must be flexible in work schedule to work weekends when needed.
  • Willingly perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as requested.

May be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth above to address business needs and change business practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum age 18 years or older, good moral and ethical background. Mechanical and mathematical ability, knowledge of lock components, and the ability to use locksmith tools.

All candidates must pass a criminal background check and drug screen upon hire.
