Job Description

RK&K is hiring experienced Construction Project Engineers to join our team in Washington, DC. As a Construction Project Engineer for RK&K you will support various transportation design-build projects throughout the DC, MD, VA area. This role is a hybrid assignment working from project sites, remotely, and on-site in our DC office.

Essential Function

  • Receive general instructions regarding assignments and exercising initiative and independent judgment in the solution of work problems related to transportation engineering and construction projects
  • Manage and assign specific tasks to administrative and field staff and assisting in all phases of the construction project
  • Provide preliminary and final estimates throughout the construction project duration
  • Ensure compliance with ADA Standards for Transportation and comply with Architectural Barriers Act Section 504 useability requirements
  • Develop technically accurate, clean, and deliverable drawings
  • Write specifications, reviews submittals, coordinate project submissions, and communicate effectively with clients, contractors, subs and other engineers
  • Quality control review and claims analyses of contract documents

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum ten (10) years of design review experience and CEI projects
  • BA/BS in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Construction Management
  • Registered Professional Engineer, P.E. (DC preferred)
  • Experience serving as an Engineer and/or Project Manager of heavy civil highway, rail, bridge, related programs
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook); proficient with Adobe Acrobat
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills

RK&K hires those with contracting, military, surveying, and related experience; we will provide further training.
