Job Introduction:

The world's leading private security organization, G4S, has an immediate job opportunity for a Human Resources Specialist. The Human Resources Specialist role is both hands-on and strategic in providing day to day Human Resources support to employees, while also providing support to the Senior Human Resources Manager. The Human Resources Specialist will assist with employee hiring and onboarding, employee relations and development, investigations support to the discipline/grievance process, personnel records, background screening, Workers' Compensation, unemployment claims, Affirmative Action planning and leave of absence. The Human Resources Specialist is also responsible for assisting with ensuring compliance with corporate policies and applicable federal, state, and local laws.

The Human Resources Specialist is a hybrid work from home position with an in-office requirement of 1 to 2 days per week. This role may be required to travel occasionally, as needed (up to 15%).

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Assist with recruiting positions and developing/revising job descriptions as needed
  • Monitor and track candidates received, interviewed, and hired against open positions; ensure all onboarding requirements are met to ensure G4S and client contract compliance
  • Administrative management under the direction of the Senior Human Resources Manager, administer leaves of activity, disciplinary actions; implement Customer transitions; Workers Comp management; Unemployment claims management, and employee records changes in Human Resources Information System; benefits administration
  • Partner with Shared Services to acquire uniforms and supplies for employees per customer requirement
  • Assist by working with managers to ensure they maximize all opportunities and use all tools available for employee retention and development
  • Assist with ensuring compliance with company Human Resources policies and applicable federal, state, and local laws


The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess one or more of the following:
    • Associate's Degree in Education, Business, Criminal Justice, Human Resources, Security Management, or related degree with a minimum of one (1) year of human resources, employee onboarding, and/or classroom instructor experience
    • High School diploma or equivalent combined with a minimum of two (2) years of human resources, employee onboarding, and/or classroom instructor experience

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Prior work experience conducting applicant sourcing, interviewing job applicants, and conducting employee onboarding in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Work history must include:
    • Excellent organizational skills that include the ability to multi-task and prioritize work
    • Sound understanding of personnel and compliance records management
    • Sound understanding of policy interpretation and implementation
    • Consultative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to communicate effectively with leadership

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadline
  • Professional, articulate, and able to use good independent judgment and discretion
  • Planning and organizing skills
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
  • Proven ability to work with minimal guidance, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and take initiative even under unfamiliar or ambiguous circumstances
  • Well organized, able to prioritize work, manage time effectively, and follow through on commitments
  • Strong Human Resources foundational understanding along with the ability to manage multiple priorities at the same time

Other Related Attributes That Would Enhance Hiring Consideration:

  • Proficient skills in Human Resources Information System (HRIS) applications
  • Proficient skills in the use of Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)
  • Associate's degree or higher in Human Resources or a closely related field
  • Prior Human Resources experience in a service industry business
  • Prior experience working in a union environment
  • Prior experience in Department of Transportation (DOT)

Other

  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment: Office; minimal to no exposure to extreme temperatures is expected

Major Activity: Working on PC while sitting, telephone use

Physical efforts to carry out job duties: Limited, to include some standing, bending, limited stretching and reaching.
