What You'll Do:

Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others throughout the operation at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards. Follow all safety, lock out tag out, and environmental rules and procedures.

Telematics responsibilities. Assist with supporting field operations with each of the company's telematics programs. This includes installing, repairing, testing, and removing 12-volt vehicle equipment, including, but not limited light bars, video cameras, tracking systems, antennas, and more. Vulcan will provide industry-specific training for the right candidates.

Inspect Equipment and Materials. Inspect all mobile equipment to identify and troubleshoot the cause of errors. Diagnose defects and perform repairs to address problems when necessary to the telematics system.

Create Work Orders. Create work orders on all repairs and services, providing legible and accurate information for all work performed.

Document the best practices of installation, maintenance and desired reporting of telematics hardware. Keep accurate records of installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.

Communicate. Establishes and maintains a process to identify, communicate, and resolve developing technical issues detected by OEM's and Highway's telematics devices onboard equipment.

Use Equipment. Use various equipment, such as air and hand tools, including multimeters to analyze and interpret system data.

Perform General Physical Activities. Perform physical activities that require moving your whole body and considerable use of your arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills You'll Need:

Experience. Automotive or marine 12v experience is desirable. A minimum of 2 years of experience is desired but not required. Knowledge of vehicle wiring and the ability to identify 12 volt electrical circuits and the installation of emergency lighting is desired. The ability to multitask and work unsupervised is a must!

Certifications. MED HVY Truck ASE Certification is preferred.

Communication Skills. Must be able to read memos, instructions, and communicate verbally with fellow employees to solve electrical problems. Provide exceptional customer service and support.

Basic Math Skills. Must be able to add, subtract, and know basic units of measurement.

Flexibility. Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
