The Senior Sales Analyst collaborates with the VP of Sales for Pet Specialty and Business Development Managers to leverages data, analytics and insights to drive net sales and share gain. Key customers include Petco, PetSmart, and more.

Working across multiple Business Units and Pet Categories, this highly visible position plays a critical role in helping the Pet Specialty Team and Business Unit Leaders to identify and quantify key business drivers and opportunities using customer, syndicated and panel data in pursuit of profitable growth in the Pet Specialty Channel. In addition, this role will be tasked with special projects including supporting the growth of white space opportunities within customers. The Senior Sales Analyst - Pet Specialty reports directly to the VP of Sales for Pet Specialty while being supported by the Category and Insights Team. This strategic role will serve as a subject matter expert on Pet Specialty with a focus on key strategic categories including - Aquatics, Toys, Companion Animal and Dog Consumables/Treats. The ideal candidate will reside in San Diego or Phoenix.

Hybrid working conditions in Phoenix or San Digeo with frequent video meetings, primarily on Pacific Standard Time.

Requires the willingness and ability to travel 10-15% of the time for customer meetings, industry events and business unit visits.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Brings data-driven concepts to life; Lead ad-hoc analysis of Point-of-Sale (POS), Consumer, Shopper, syndicated, and internal data to develop recommendations with specific action plans on how to address issues and improve economic profit, volume, and share growth. Key examples of analysis could include: distribution, promotional, category / channel / competitor trends, pricing execution, trade spending, etc.
  • Role-model a consumer/shopper-first approach using data; build story telling skills of organization to bring Central strategies and ideas to life with Pet Specialty Retailers.
  • Support Top to Top, JBP and Category Review meetings by developing compelling category and retailer stories and presentations, customer meetings as needed.
  • Develop, generate, and present key performance indicators (KPIs) and key reports for Key Stakeholders including Business Unit Leadership, Marketing and Sales Teams. Proactively assess and execute opportunities to improve data-usage.
  • Lead white space and ad-hoc projects from opportunity identification to retailer recommendation leveraging project management and prioritization skills.
  • Build and maintain relationships with cross-functional partners such as brand marketing, digital marketing, sales, finance, and customer service.
  • Stay up-to-date on business trends, economic conditions, customer initiatives, and historical learning, future trends and provide fact-based decision support to business unit, marketing and sales teams.
  • Collaborate with the Consumer Insights Team to continuously learn and share best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong computer literacy with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to turn a large amount of data into insights and compelling stories for Customers
  • Ability and confidence to interact with customers and internal leadership in formal presentations regarding data and analytical recommendations.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally & transversely across the organization with minimal supervision or oversight
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Commitment to deadlines, accuracy and professionalism
  • Background in Consumer Product Goods (CPG) or syndicated data provider with a solid understanding of CPG sales preferred.
  • Understanding of Pet Categories and Pet Specialty Channel and the broader market - Food, Drug, Mass & eCommerce channels preferred.
  • Knowledge of Neilsen, Profitero, Numerator or equivalent preferred.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree with a business emphasis (e.g. Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Marketing, etc.) required. Master's degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years relevant experience (e.g. category development, business analytics, store / merchandising / distribution, sales, or marketing)
