The Director, Lab Category Management will have accountability for revenue and margin growth for McKesson's Medical-Surgical's (MMS) Infectious Disease laboratory diagnostics product category. The position will manage a team of Category Managers and be responsible for overall vendor/supplier strategy & relationships. This role will own the development and execution of product category strategies focused on revenue and margin growth for MMS's lab product portfolio. You will have the opportunity to join the Product Strategy & Supplier Partnership's team (PSSP) within McKesson's Medical-Surgical division based in Richmond, VA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead team of category managers responsible for revenue, buy and sell profitability for assigned lab product categories and supplier across Infectious Disease products & suppliers.
  • Own & manage buyside P&L, including monthly forecasting updates, annual planning and identification of profit levers for long range growth.
  • Manage relationships and lead large, complex negotiations with major lab suppliers.
  • Develop comprehensive, winning category strategies with bold new tactics to achieve aggressive growth goals.
  • Partner closely with MMS's Primary Care & Lab sales leadership team to design & implement sales initiatives to drive category strategy & achieve long-term growth goals.
  • Coach and lead team of category managers in the creating their sub-category strategies as well as their personal development.
  • Collaborate with Lab Innovation & Biz Dev team to identify and gain access to new products & novel technologies.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Conduct sophisticated business analyses & modeling and translate data into actionable insights.
  • Deliver polished presentations with data-driven insights and a strategic narrative to influence executives to adopt recommended strategies.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities & inform product strategy.
  • Assist marketing team with development of customer-facing collateral and product-focused sales campaigns.
  • Ensure alignment with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Customer Experience, and Supplier Services teams on inventory management, product licensing, compliance, and other programs.
  • Promote products & sales programs on a weekly basis to 1,000+ sales reps, as well as communicate supply chain updates.
  • Coordinate national sales meeting planning & training events to foster supplier & rep engagement.
  • Represent McKesson at major industry events with suppliers.

Minimum Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional experience and 2+ years diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization and people management (or equivalent experience).

Critical Skills

  • Manage multiple projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving
  • Experience leading teams in a matrix environment
  • Strong financial acumen. Experience managing a P&L and buy/sell profitability, financial forecasting.
  • Responsibility for a specific product lines and overall product strategy for specific customer segments.
  • Experience leading complex negotiations.

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • Industry experience preferred.
  • Excellent relationship building, interpersonal skills and written/verbal skills
  • Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders across organizational boundaries.
  • Structured problem-solving skills, combined with strong business acumen.
  • Dynamic communication and presentation skills with the ability to take complex topics and develop into compelling narratives for different audiences

Education
4-year degree in business, finance, marketing, or related field, or equivalent experience

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$130,900 - $218,100
